      Sunmi Mini Ap

      This article will teach you all you need to know about the Sunmi Mini Ap device.

      ​The Sunmi Mini Ap device is a compact wireless access point that utilise Sunmi's Hyper Wi-Fi technology to provide extensive and stable wireless coverage.
      Measuring just 76 x 76 x 19 mm and weighing 73 grams, its small size belies its powerful capabilities. 

      Key Features:

      • Extended Coverage and Penetration: The device offers a maximum communication range of up to 1kilometre, effectively covering areas up to 2,000 square meters. Its enhanced wall penetration capabilities ensure robust signal strength across various environments, such as warehouses and factories.

      • High Stability and Device Capacity: Designed to maintain stable connections even in environments with significant electronic interference, like nightclubs, the Mini Ap supports simultaneous connections for up to 64 terminals. 

      • Dual Operating Modes: Users can easily switch between Ap/Transmitter Mode and Client/Receiver Mode, providing flexibility in network configurations. ​

      • Plug and Play Functionality: The device connects via a Type-C USB cable, which supplies both power and network connectivity, simplifying setup and reducing cable clutter. ​

      • SUNMI Hyper Wi-Fi Integration: By incorporating Sunmi's Hyper Wi-Fi technology, the Mini Ap ensures seamless connectivity with features like smart network switching and enhanced security protocols, including support for WPA3.

      • Comprehensive Management Options: Users can manage the device locally through a web platform, remotely via Sunmi's Device Management Platform (DMP), or using the Sunmi Assistant App which is available for both iOS and Android devices.

      Steps for Setting up Ap/Transmitter Mode

      (Ap/Transmitter Mode is where the Sunmi Mini Ap is set up as a wireless access point for other devices to connect to.)

      1. Power the Device

        • Connect the Sunmi Mini Ap to a power source via the USB Type-C cable .

        • You can power it using a POS system, a USB adapter, or a power bank.

      2. Connect to a Network Source

        • Wired Setup (Recommended):

          • Plug an Ethernet cable (from a Router or Switch) into the LAN port of the Mini Ap.

          • This will provide internet to the device.

        • USB Setup (For SUNMI POS Devices):

          • If using a Sunmi POS System, connect the Mini Ap via USB Type-C.

          • The POS system can share its internet connection with the Ap.

      3. Switch to Ap Mode

        • Locate the Mode Switch on the device.

        • Toggle it to Ap Mode.

      4. Configure the Network (Optional)

        • Use the Sunmi Assistant App (available on iOS & Android) or the Sunmi Device Management Platform (DMP) to:

          • Set the Wi-Fi SSID (network name).

          • Configure password protection and security settings (WPA3 recommended).

          • Adjust the Wi-Fi range and channels if needed.

      5. Connect Devices to the New Wi-Fi Network

        • Once configured, nearby devices (POS terminals, tablets, barcode scanners, etc.) can connect to the new Wi-Fi network.

       

      Steps for setting up Client/Receiver Mode

      Client/Receiver Mode is a networking mode where the Sunmi Mini Ap act as a Wi-Fi receiver instead of being a Wi-Fi broadcaster. This allows wired-only devices to connect to a Wi-Fi network by converting the wireless signal into a wired connection via its Lan Port.

      1. Power the Device

        • Connect the Mini Ap to a USB power source (e.g., a POS system, adapter, or power bank).

      2. Switch to Client/Receiver Mode

        • Locate the Mode Switch and toggle it to Client Mode.

      3. Connect to an Existing Wi-Fi Network

        • Press the WPS/pairing button on the Sunmi Mini Ap.

        • Use the Sunmi Assistant App or the Sunmi Device Management Platform (DMP) to:

          • Scan and select a nearby Wi-Fi network.

          • Enter the Wi-Fi password to connect.

      4. Connect a Wired Device

        • Plug an Ethernet cable from the Mini Ap's LAN port into the wired device (e.g., POS terminal, receipt printer, or digital signage).

        • The wired device will now use the Wi-Fi connection as if it were directly connected via Ethernet.
